Volunteer
Volunteers are carefully chosen and trained to act as a neighbor and friend to families who request their services. These services include:
- providing companionship
- running errands
- preparing light meals
- assisting with hobbies
- veteran services
- assisting with occasional household chores
- reading to patients
- playing cards or games
- being a family friend
- administrative/customer service support
- writing letters and thank you notes
- chaplain services
- recording life stories
- hospitality
Most importantly, HOSPICE volunteers listen.

Who Can Volunteer?
- persons of high school age or older
- working professionals
- retirees
- homemakers
- college students
- anyone looking to brighten someone else’s life
What Type of Training Will I Receive?
All volunteers must complete our initial six (6) hour training course. If you are interested in expanding your volunteer efforts to include direct care to patients in their homes, in the nursing home environment or at the Bowers Hospice House, (additional training required).
